2013 is turning to be quite a year for the progressive rock trio. On the eve of the 40th anniversary of their first album (their self titled debut was released in March 2014), the band got inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame, has been earning praises from Rolling Stone magazine after 4 decades of scorn, and now has been honoured in their native Canada by their own stamp! As part of a series named Canadian Recording Artists, also featuring The Guess Who, The Tragically Hip and Quebec folk-pop legends Beau Dommage, the band is represented by the classic 2112 starman image, along with a vintage live shot for the Official First Day Cover. It’s not everyday you get 2 double neck guitars on official government issued items!
The whole package is tastefully done and looks very classy, and honours four well deserving acts who’ve been beacons of canadian music. They put the cool back into stamp collecting. 🙂
