New Music Weekly – March 10th 2017

Looking for some sweet new music? Here are a few titles that caught my ear this week.

Me and That Man – Cross My Heart and Hope to Die (single)

Let’s kick things off this week with the new single from Me And That Man’s debut album ‘Songs of Love and Death’ out 24th March 2017. It’s a pretty good country/outlaw song, but what makes it special is that singer Adam Darski is also known as Nergal, black metal band Behemoth. We can’t accuse him of being a one trick pony.

Zac Brown Band – Real Thing (single)

Leading off this week is the second single from Zac Brown Band’s upcoming album “Wlecome Home”, due in May. It’s all you’d expect from them, but I’m ready for an up tempo track now.

Whitehorse – Boys Like You (single)

Canadian duo Whitehorse will drop their fourth album, “Panther In The Dollhouse”, on May 12, but the first single is already here. The musical direction seems quite different from their first three records, but I loved “Leave No Bridge Unburned” that I’m willing to give it a shot. Can’t wait to hear the full album.

Night Demon – Welcome to the Night (single)

Night Demon’s debut album was a fantastic throwback to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, especially Diamond Head. “Welcome to the Night” follows in the same vein. Their sophomore album “Darkness Remains” will drop on April 21st.

Different Days – Inside and Out (single)

Montreal’s Different Days is working on a new album, but they’ve released a first single on Bandcamp. It’s growing on me, I must admit.

Stephen Pearcy – Ten Miles Wide (single)

Fresh out of a legal battle that saw the frontline members of 80’s hairband Ratt wrestle the band name from drummer Bobby Blotzer, singer Stephen Pearcy releases the first single from his upcoming solo album “Smash”.

Mastodon – Andromeda (single)

Innovative metal band Mastodon offers us another glimpse into their upcoming album “Emperor of Sand”. Is it March 31st already?

Krokus – House of the Rising Son (single)

Swiss band Krokus had a few really good tracks in the 80’s, but in April they’ll release “Big Rocks”, a covers album paying tribute to artists that influenced them. Do we really need a covers album from Krokus in 2017? Based on this first single, I’d say no. Unless you’re a really big Krokus fan. And I mean really big.
