How did you start singing? I grew up singing Disney songs and eventually began singing along to the albums my mom would listen to (Carole King, Janis Ian, etc.). I started playing guitar in high school and started writing my original music.
What’s your songwriting process like? I often have phrases or melodies pop into my head and I jot them down in my phone. When I’m in the zone to write, I usually go through my phone and work on one of those ideas. I also really enjoy toplining with other writer/producers. It’s like filling in the blanks!
Who are your influences? My all time favorite artists are Sheryl Crow, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Taylor Swift. I love a badass female musician!
Recently I’ve been listening to a ton of Great Good Fine Ok, Amy Shark, and Maren Morris.
How would you describe your music? I would describe my music as a blend of fun and introspective. I’m equally as likely to write a song about heartbreak as I am a song about ghosts. One of the most important things for me is to write a song that has a memorable hook and I always strive to create music you can sing along to.
What’s the one thing that makes you stand out from the rest? I think my sense of humor makes me stand apart from the rest. I try not to take myself too seriously.
How would you describe your live show? I usually play with a band. I play acoustic or electric guitar on some songs and tell stupid jokes.
Have you ever played in Montreal? I haven’t played a show in Montreal yet but I’m dying to try a real Montreal bagel!
What are your touring plans for the next few months? I’m currently booking some shows in the Los Angeles area, dates are TBA!
