The Music Addict’s Verdict | The best thing about The Fullbug? The wicked guitar riffs. The worst thing? They only have 4 songs, dammit. |
How was the band formed?
Lavy: I met Jessie (Drums) when he was the drummer for a band called “Got No Shame” in 2007, I was in my own band, our bands had a few shows together back then. A few years down the line, in 2010, I joined his band and we went on our first US tour. Eventually that band broke up but we decided to keep going no matter what. in 2012 we formed “Project Revival” with Nadav (guitars), recorded a full album, that band eventually had to break up as well but I kept going no matter what. Jessi, Nadav and I were left to our own devices. It actually made it a bit easier to have fewer people involved and we were not interested in doing live shows at the time, so there was no need to look for new band members. We came up with a few songs and figured I should be the one to sing them.
What’s your songwriting process like?
Most of the time, one of us comes up with a guitar riff and we go from there. the riff for “Blood bath” came up when we were all sitting in Lavy’s apartment. The riff usually comes with an idea for a verse or chorus, sometimes we’ll make a quick sketch on the computer just to get a wider perspective of where we’re going. Originally the song had a different chorus, melody and lyrics, after listening to the demos for a while, we decided we could come up with something better.
What are your influences?
Growing up, our influences were ranging from classic rock’n’roll to punk rock to metal like AC/DC, Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin to NOFX, Bad Religion to Metallica, Machine Head, Black Label Society, Maylene and the Sons of Disaster. Today our musical vision is pretty much a mash (and a mess) of all of these bands.
How would you describe your music?
It’s mostly dirty, loud rock, heavily influenced by punk & southern music.
What’s your latest release?
So in 2017, after our last band broke up, we were eager to just go into the studio and record an EP. we worked on some songs for a few months, finally picked 4 and went in. We decided to name it “Black Hole Syndrome” because to us, it was representing the loss and frustrating times we went through. Earlier this month we went into the studio to record our next EP.
