The Music Addict’s VerdictTheir press release says “ASHRR exists at the crossroads of analog synth ecstasy, underground industrial darkness,
and a dash of Big Easy voodoo”, and dammit, that’s a description that’s hard to disagree with.

How was the band formed?

Josh Charles: Steven and I met Ethan through a friend and hit it off when we went to his studio to record some vocals. We talked about writing together and wrote a few songs and looked at each other and said “ Yeah! Let’s do this! “

What’s your songwriting process like?

Either myself or Ethan will come up with demo ideas that we then will listen to and pick the winner and start hashing out the structure and sound of the song and some dummy lyrics. Once it’s gotten to a point where it makes sense, we set up lyric writing sessions which for the last 6 months have been over FaceTime.

What are your influences?

We all have such diverse influences. Speaking personally, I can say U2, Radiohead, The Police, Depeche Mode, Monk , Donny Hathaway, Ray Charles, The Meters…

How would you describe your music?

We definitely fit into the dark wave/ post-punk / psychedelic / indie rock category

What’s the one thing that makes you/your band stand out from the rest?

Our collective experience as songwriter and artists come together in a unique sound, especially our vocal harmonies.

Describe your live show.

We can’t tell you how much we miss playing live!  Energetic, fierce, cool

What are your plans for the next few months?

We are hard at work on our follow up to ‘Oscillator’ and plan on putting out a single every other month until the album is ready.

How has COVID affected you as an artist/band?

Luckily, we’ve been able to carry on writing and recording completely virtually and since Ethan and myself have our own home studio and Steven as well , we’re full steam ahead. We haven’t physically seen each other since March which is difficult for sure.

What’s the craziest gig you’ve ever played?

Right before COVID, we played at Bar Sinister in Hollywood and it was our best show ever.  Can’t wait to get back on stage!
